OUR NEIGHBOUR AREA / SIGHTSEEING

Antandros; Is built on a hill near Altınoluk, at the South of Kazdağları. The city is surrounded by a citadel at the top of the hill, and a cemetery. Excavations are continued in the historical city remaining inside the boundaries of Altınoluk town.
Altınoluk; 17 kilometres from Akçay, located at the North of the Bay and at the South of Kazdağı, the city was named Antandros. This is one of the important touristical centers of the region. Prepared yearly by the Altınoluk Municipality, “Antandros Festivities to Honor Culture, Arts and Life” draws many participators to the region.
Pınarbaşı; Is a picnic place within the boundaries of Güre Town, 6 kilometers from Akçay. This is the ideal spot for cooling off, particularly during the summer months, with the freely running ice-cold waters. The place, run by the Department of Forestry, also contains a trout farm inside the picnic area.
Şahinderesi; Is located at the skirts of Kazdağları, in the Altınoluk area. Looks at Altınoluk from the top. This is a picnic place, with trees and clean springs. There is a lodging house and a restaurant.
Çağlayan; Is inside Kızılkeçili Village, 3kilometers from Akçay. It contains an 800 years old plane tree, officially registered by the ministry of culture.
Hanlar (Handeresi); Is the one of the most favored picnic places, with a distance of 35 kilometers from Akçay. Has many trees and springs. There are restaurants and cafes around.
Mıhlı Çayı; Is a river side surrounded by forests, 25 kilometers from Akçay, At Altınoluk-Çanakkale road.
Güre Gelinçamı Piknik area; Is a public picnic area 8 kilometers from Akçay. Can be reached through the newly built road from Güre. Some activities of the Sarıkız Festival held every year by Güre Municipality take place here.
Sütüven; Is a picnic place within the boundaries of Zeytinli Town, 5 kilometers from Akçay. There are some sightseeing terraces and playground arrangements. The Sütüven falls with a height of 8 meters is also located here.
Hasanboğuldu; Can be reached by following for 1 kilometer the path at the far side of the creek after the Sütüven picnic area. Located within the boundaries of Zeytili Town. There is a small fall and a small lake containing several kinds of fish.
Tahtakuşlar Etnoğrafya Müzesi; Since 1992, is Turkey’s first private ethnographical museum and the first arts gallery located in a village. 5 kilometers from Akçay and 2 kilometers from the E24 road connecting Balıkesir to Çanakkale, with an asphalt road, inside natural beauties. The gallery displays interesting and authentic cultural riches all year long, belonging to the nomad clans which migrated to Turkey from Central Asia, such as clothing, tools, carpets and tents.
Additionally, Altınoluk Abdullah Efendi Mansion, Zeytinli Tea Garden, Sarıkız Peak, Şıp Şıp Dede and Edremit Parks are among the places worth visiting.
